Pauline Marois to host French Prime Minister

The Premier of Québec, Pauline Marois, will welcome the Prime Minister of the French Republic, Jean-Marc Ayrault, to Québec on March 14 and 15 for the 17th Alternating Meeting of the Premier of Québec and the Prime Minister of France.

“It will be an immense honour to welcome Prime Minister Ayrault to Québec. Our relations with France are based on a shared history and a deep friendship as well as on the ties that encompass all the spheres of activity of our two societies. This meeting will open a new chapter in our relationship that will be in tune with the aspirations of Québec and France and the issues facing us both today,” said the Premier.

Prime Minister Ayrault will first go to Montréal on March 14 to hold discussions with the Premier of Québec. The following day, in Québec City, the Premier and her French counterpart will participate in the 17th Alternating Meeting of the Premier of Québec and the Prime Minister of France.

The alternating meetings of the Premier of Québec and the Prime Minister of France began in 1977. They set the objectives and priorities of relations between Québec and France. Québec and French ministers participate in enlarged working sessions held during these meetings, which alternate between Québec and France.
