Further to the announcement made at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2009, Telefilm Canada, Quebec’s Cultural Enterprise Development Corporation (SODEC), the French Community of Belgium’s Cinema and Audiovisual Centre (CCA), France’s National Centre for Cinema and Animation (CNC) and Luxembourg’s Film Fund, in partnership with Switzerland’s Federal Cultural Office (OFC), are pleased to launch a call for applicants for the Francophone Film Development Assistance Fund (FFADC).
The Fund aims to strengthen creative exchanges in the area of French-language fiction feature films. Reflecting the partner agencies’ commitment to increase their support for trans-Atlantic projects, the Fund is open to fiction feature films involving at least one Canadian producer and one European producer from Belgium, France, Luxembourg or Switzerland. The Fund will have an annual operating budget of €300,000, with each selected project receiving up to €40,000 in assistance to cover development costs. Qualifying projects will be selected by a jury of experts representing the various partner agencies.
The Fund will be managed by the Namur International Francophone Film Festival (FIFF), which will be responsible for administration, application processing and jury coordination.
The call for applicants will close on December 1, 2009. First-round results will be announced at the Berlin International Film Festival.
