St-Hyacinthe, Québec: September 3, 2009, CTT GROUP (Centre for Textile and Geosynthetic Technologies, recognized as a centre of excellence) in Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, Canada and CENTEXBEL (Scientific and Technical Research Centre of the Belgian Textile Industry) in Brussels, Belgium, have signed a new technological cooperation agreement. Jan Laperre, Director General of Centexbel, and Jacek Mlynarek, CEO of CTT Group, signed the agreement in the presence of Québec Government Representative in Brussels Christos Sirros.

The agreement’s primary goal is to increase the exchange of technical information and implement collaborative research and development projects. It also seeks to establishs an inter-laboratory program and researcher exchanges. The European Union, the Canadian and Belgium governments as well as the governments of Flanders, Québec and Wallonia will contribute to the financing of these initiatives.
In addition to enhanced technical support, industries in both countries will benefit from increased exchanges and service referencing as well as seminar and conference organization. The agreement therefore provides a definite advantage in terms of tangible value for public and private innovation networks on both sides of the Atlantic.

To launch cooperation under this agreement, a Belgian delegation will be in Montreal this October 7-8 to participate in Expo Hightex, an annual event that fosters business and product development in the technical textile sector.
