The Québec Government Office in Brussels is recruiting a European and multilateral affairs assistant.

Context: The European Affairs Department of the Québec Government Office in Brussels (DGQB) works with the European institutions (the Commission, the Parliament), as well as with other pan-European organisations such as the Council of Europe and various European regional groupings.
Description of tasks:
• Assisting the European Affairs team in the preparation of projects, e.g. missions involving governments, businesses, professional organisations, research centres or academics. Taking care of the logistical side of these trips.
• Making appointments for the different departments, compiling mission papers or documentation prior to the meeting, receiving guests during meetings at the DGQB.
• Working closely with the Canada-Europe Economic Chamber and organising certain activities of an economic nature.
• Ensuring the production of activity calendars for European affairs and finalising monthly reports. Assisting the department in keeping the lists of active clientèles and the list of partners up to date.
• Managing the department’s documentation, managing subscriptions and recommending new sources of economic or community information, as needed.
• Performing clerical tasks for the department: translating from Dutch into French and English or vice versa, taking care of registrations for events. Working closely with the Economic Department (networking events).
• Any other tasks associated with the DGQB’s roles (supporting other colleagues depending on the workload).
• Regular oral and written communication in French, English and Dutch.
• Showing creativity in the production of certain documents for departmental activities and in document management.
KNOWLEDGE
• A knowledge of the workings of and current developments at the European institutions.
• A knowledge of trade, market development and key European policies.
• A practical knowledge of business and economic issues in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
• A basic understanding of international marketing.
• An ability to communicate on social media (LINKEDIN, TWITTER, FACEBOOK) and to use computers and Internet tools (WINDOWS XP, OFFICE, OUTLOOK).
• Fluency in French and English, knowledge of Dutch is an asset.
Other requirements:
-You should have a post-secondary qualification or university degree and 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a related field.
-A knowledge of Quebec’s institutions and organisations would be an advantage.
