Description of the organization

The Government of Québec operates thirty-two representations worldwide, with nine offices in the United States including: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Silicon Valley and Washington DC. Inaugurated in 1940, the New York office is Quebec’s primary representation in the United States.

The mandate of the Québec Government Office in Atlanta is to develop and promote economic, governmental, and institutional ties with the seven states in the region that are, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

Summary of Duties

Under the supervision of the Delegate, the Trade Attaché is responsible for the promotion of Québec’s economic interests in the seven states mentioned previously. The Attaché will support companies from Québec in their efforts to tap into one of Québec’s most strategic markets, with specific focus on the IT (FinTech, HealthTech, Cybersecurity, AI, etc.) and Creative Industries.

The Attaché will :
  • develop a network of high-level contacts in the above mentioned sectors;
  • develop strategies and action plans geared to these sectors and advise the Delegate on an overall course of action;
  • build strong relationships with relevant U.S. business leaders, trade associations, international financial institutions, government officials, energy and environmental organizations, think tanks, and media representatives;
  • advise and provide practical, operational support to Québec-based companies, helping them to develop U.S. market entry strategies and develop new business within the U.S.;
  • organize missions in the U.S. for Québec based-companies in his or her primary-focus sectors;
  • organize promotional and business networking events to raise the Québec profile in his or her primary-focus sectors;
  • monitor opportunities in other economic sectors and assist Québec-based companies from other than his or her primary-focus sectors, if requested;
  • prepare reports and briefings on attended tradeshows, conferences and events of interest.

Essential Requirements

  • Education : University degree (minimum B.A.);
  • Language: Fluency in English and proficiency in French;
  • Experience: Three years minimum of relevant work experience related to the green economy or IT/Multimedia sectors (video games, simulation, AI, etc.).

Rated Requirements

  • A solid understanding of the North American green sector (regulations and trends), and more specifically, of the green technology and environmental markets;
  • Good network of contacts, especially in the clean economy sector;
  • Willingness to travel 20 to 25% of his or her time outside of metro Atlanta;
  • Knowledge of Québec’s primary focus sectors and its relations with the U.S.;
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing assignments and ability to multitask;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Conditions of employment

  • Permanent position, full time
  • 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday unless otherwise required
  • Starting salary : $ 84 332
