Working at Québec’s representative offices abroad

Three types of employees work at Québec’s representative offices abroad:

  • personnel appointed by the government to act as representatives;
  • regular management or professional-level public service employees who are posted to representative offices abroad for a period of time ranging from two to four years.
  • locally recruited employees who are subject to the local laws and practices in effect in the host country.

Regular employees in the Québec public service

To obtain information on the Québec public service staffing process, consult the Web site of the Secrétariat du Conseil du trésor (treasury board of Québec secretariat).

To find out about current calls for applications in the Government of Québec, consult the Portail Carrières (career portal)..

If you are already a regular employee (manager or professional) in the Québec public service and are interested in being posted abroad, submit your application using the Emplois en ligne (online job board) solution in the Portail Carrières, during the application period. Positions are posted mainly in the fall and begin the following summer.

Locally recruited employees

Québec's representative offices abroad staff the jobs that fall within their area of responsibility and their territory.

To be eligible, you must be a citizen of the country where the job offer is posted or hold a work permit, in addition to meeting the job requirements.

Internships at Québec’s representative offices abroad

LOJIQ-MRIF internship program

The internship program for Québec's representative offices abroad, which is the result of collaboration between Les Offices jeunesse internationaux du Québec (LOJIQ) and the Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie (MRIF), targets young adults aged 18 to 35 who have completed their studies and are actively searching for a job in their field.

To be eligible, you must:

  • be a Canadian citizen or hold permanent resident status;
  • have a valid health insurance card from Québec;
  • have lived in Québec for at least one year;
  • have completed your studies and be unemployed or underemployed, i.e. have a part-time job in a field unrelated to your training (self-employed workers are also eligible);
  • match the sought-after profile for the internship.

Several internship opportunities for 2019-2020 will be published online via the LOJIQ Web site (in French only).
