The Québec Government Office in Chicago in partnership with the Alliance Française of Chicago organized a cultural presentation on Vietnam, hosted by author and writer Kim Thúy Ly Thanh and Northwestern University professor Lam Thao Nguyen.
This presentation took place on March 23rd, 2021, and focused on subjects such as identity, expressing love through food, and bringing families together. Chef Thao showed us how to prepare can chua cá, or sweet and sour soup, a recipe published in Kim Thúy's cookbook, "Le Secret des Vietnamiennes."
This workshop was a huge success, with over 40 participants, which is reflective of the role of food as a unifying force.
