Québec will be participating in the 17th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change that is being held from November 28 to December 9, 2011, in Durban, South Africa. The Parties to the Convention will pursue the implementation of the Cancun Agreements reached last year and will discuss the future of the Kyoto Protocol, which is set to end in December 2012.
The Québec delegation is headed by the Assistant Deputy Minister at the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et des Parcs, Charles Larochelle, who will take part in various events organized on the sidelines of the conference in order to promote the concrete role played by federated states and regions in the fight against climate change.
One of the priorities of Québec’s International Policy is to strengthen Québec’s role and influence with international organizations as well as during negotiations and deliberations that affect its interests.
