Mr. Charest and Mr. Casimir also discussed Québec’s various initiatives in Haiti, including the public administration support project (Projet d’appui au renforcement de la gestion publique/PARGEP). The Consul General voiced his satisfaction with the project, while the Premier emphasized the importance of working with the new Haitian government to ensure that the program adequately meets its needs.
PARGEP is designed to facilitate the transfer of expertise between the Québec and Haitian governments with a view to strengthening Haiti’s senior public service and improving the services provided to the Haitian population.
