Montréal-based Arcade Fire is in the limelight these days. On the heels of the group’s recent Grammy win, it has been singled out for two Brit awards.
Grammy
Arcade Fire won the Album of the Year award at the 53rd Grammy ceremony, held on February 13 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The Suburbs beat out albums by artists such as Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
The members of Arcade Fire also gave their first-ever Grammy performance. They sang Month of May and came back on stage later during the evening to perform Ready to Start.
In addition to Album of the Year, Arcade Fire was in the running in the Best Alternative Music Album and Best Rock Performance categories.
Brit Awards
Arcade Fire was also chosen as the Best International Group at the Brit Awards ceremony in London, and The Suburbs was picked as the Best International Album.
Arcade Fire was chosen over performers like The Black Eyed Peas and Eminem. The group came out on top in both of the categories in which it was nominated.
As at the Grammys, the Montréal group performed a song during the Brit Awards ceremony, held at the O2 Arena in London.
