The Just for Laughs Group got off to a fantastic start in 2011 with new strategic TV partnerships in North America, England and China. The agreements illustrate the ongoing interest of the world’s television industry broadcasters and producers.
In North America
Agreements were signed with Entertainment One (eOne) for creating and developing scripted TV comedy series. Just for Laughs Gags, shown in 135 countries and on 95 airlines, is returning for another season on CBC with 39 half-hour shows. The series will also be broadcast for the first time on the Canadian specialty channel Country Music Television (CMT).
A series of eight half-hour shows will be aired in the UK in collaboration with Channel 5 and Fiver, which attract 30 million viewers.
The Just for Laughs Group will make its first showing in China with a 90-minute special shot at the latest Toronto Just For Laughs Festival. The one-time special will be broadcast entirely in Mandarin on CCTV3, which has a viewing audience of 120 million.
