In the interest of promoting La Francophonie in all of its diversity, the Québec-France Association and the France-Québec Association are launching the Slam tour with support from the Commission permanente de coopération franco-québécoise (CPCFQ).
Poetry slams, which mix poetry and stage performance, are events championing very intense wordplay. French and Quebecer tour participants will do their best to honour the French language during a one-week tour of three regions of Québec.
From October 2 to 6, 2013, four French participants will come to Québec to display their talent. This group, which includes finalists from the “Vive la parole libre!” competition held by the France-Québec Association, will travel to Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Magog, Trois-Rivières and Montreal as part of a joint tour with their Quebecer counterparts.
A Quebec champion as sponsor
During their tour, they will take part in poetry slams, workshops and public events where Quebecers will have a chance to discover a poetry slam and the interaction and self-transcendence involved in this art form. Tour participants will also have a chance to meet David Goudreault, the sponsor of the “Vive la parole libre!” contest and the first Quebecer to win a poetry slam world cup, which he won in Paris in 2011.
This project is sponsored by the Commission permanente de coopération franco-québécoise, which is administered by the Ministère des Relations internationales, de la Francophonie et du Commerce extérieur du Québec and the Consulate General of France in Quebec City.
Promoting Québec-France relations
The joint mission of the Québec-France Association and the France-Québec Association is to encourage the development of friendly relations and special cooperation between Québec and France. Both associations are active in the cultural, social and economic sectors.
