While on mission in New York City, Premier Pauline Marois and Minister of International Relations, La Francophonie and External Trade Jean-François Lisée participated in the official opening on December 13 of the first office of the Expansion Québec network, a new support service for Québec export companies developed in partnership with Entreprise Rhône-Alpes International (ERAI).
Expansion Québec will provide Québec companies eager to break into the New York market with a full line of services ranging from domiciliation to advice on setting up operations in the U.S.
The Expansion Québec network has committed to deploying and managing 14 offices abroad over the next five years. Québec-based companies will also have access to ERAI’s 27 offices around the world.
“Expansion Québec is part of a plan by the Québec government to strengthen the permanent physical presence of Québec companies in foreign markets and thereby accelerate their growth. It is through such initiatives that Québec will ultimately be able to rely on champion export SMEs that will contribute to Québec’s prosperity,” noted the Premier.
According to Ms. Marois, New York City was the perfect location for Expansion Québec’s first office. “Because of its status as a financial and economic hub, New York is a logical choice for many companies wishing to expand their business in the United States.”
Expansion-Québec offices will begin serving Québec companies in January.
