Québec Premier Jean Charest, Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks Pierre Arcand and Minister of Transport Pierre Moreau unveiled the 2013-2020 Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP 2020) and the accompanying Government Strategy for Climate Change Adaptation.
“We have set the most ambitious greenhouse gas emissions reduction target in North America. The new action plan and adaptation strategy are proof of our total commitment to guiding Québec to an even greener and more prosperous and sustainable economy,” said Premier Charest.
A far-reaching plan
The action plan and adaptation strategy represent investments totalling nearly $2.7 billion. CCAP 2020 will be self-financed through revenues from the carbon market as well as the extension of the duty on gasoline and fossil fuels until 2014.
