The 3rd Annual General Assembly of the Association francophone des comités nationaux olympiques (AFCNO) was held in Québec City on May 25 and 26. It brought together representatives from the 42 national Olympic committees and the member states and governments of the Association, as well as observers from the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).
Organized by the Fondation Nordiques, the event received funding from the Ministère des Relations internationales, the Bureau de la Capitale-Nationale and the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport.
Presence of French on the Olympic scene
“As an active member of OIF, Québec is a proud promoter of the French language around the world. I thus applaud the actions of the Association francophone des comités nationaux olympiques, which shares this role and whose action on the international sports scene complements that of OIF,” said Minister Gagnon-Tremblay.
