Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, Monique Gagnon-Tremblay, today confirmed the funding and support of the Government of Québec for the first edition of the Forum mondial de la langue française, which will be held in Québec City from July 2 to 6, 2012. The Government of Québec is a key partner of this major event and will provide funding for the Forum mondial de la langue française to the tune of $2 million.
The Minister, who was participating in the official launch of the video contest of the Forum mondial de la française for young Francophones around the world, also applauded the interest of Québec organizations, which responded in large numbers to the call for proposals by the Commissariat-général of the Forum and which made it possible to develop a unique program. Over twenty organizations from Québec civil society and ten Québec government departments and agencies are involved in various projects featured on the program.

In collaboration with TV5 Québec Canada, the Forum has invited young Francophones ranging in age from 18 to 30 to produce videos not exceeding 140 seconds that express what growing up, living, studying, working, dreaming, travelling, loving, creating or communicating in French in the 21st Century means to them. It will be a unique opportunity for them to express themselves freely on their attachment to the French language by calling on their creativity in a universe that is familiar to them—digital art.
