The 34th edition of the Montréal World Film Festival will run from August 26 to September 6, 2010. Route 132, directed by Montréal filmmaker Louis Bélanger, will kick off the festival and inaugurate its official competition. Celebrated Danish director Bille August will be president of the international jury. The program also includes a retrospective of films by Iranian director Jafar Panahi (The White Baloon).
The festival will also pay tribute to the celebrated French actress Nathalie Baye, who will be in town to present a selection of her films.
Louis Bélanger`s Gaz Bar Blues opened the 27th MWFF in 2003 and Bélanger's first film, Post Mortem, was selected for Official Competition in 1999.
