Some 20 Québec-based companies, including Bombardier, Pratt & Whitney Canada, CAE and Bell Helicopter, will be taking part in the Farnborough International Airshow (United Kingdom). Running from July 19-25, 2010, the event is expected to draw 280,000 visitors.
Clément Gignac, Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, will be joining 1,300 exhibitors representing all segments of the aerospace sector.
"Our aerospace sector is particularly dynamic and competitive, with Québec currently ranked sixth among global sales leaders, behind the US, France, Germany, the UK and Japan. Québec companies’ presence in Farnborough is of paramount importance. For that reason, our government has a duty to attend and to demonstrate its support for Québec aerospace companies," said Mr. Gignac.
The Québec Department of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade (MDEIE) and its partners (Société générale de financement du Québec, Investissement Québec and Montreal International) will be operating a booth at the event that will serve as a meeting place for Québec-based and international industry representatives seeking to undertake major projects in the province.
“Our presence in Farnborough is aimed at forging links with key industry stakeholders and developing and strengthening lucrative sustainable partnerships for Québec. We hope to meet with aerospace executives from around the world and to present the list of benefits offered by Québec with respect to their investment projects. Québec companies’ R&D activities are synonymous with innovation. Having placed Québec at the top of the list of major international aerospace actors, they are now seeking locations to establish new subsidiaries and expand their current operations,” said Mr. Gignac.
