Ray Donnelly, Deputy Executive Director of the Long Island Forum for Technology (LIFT) and Walter Pogge, CEO of Retlif along with a delegation of business people involved in security technologies from Long Island, were in Montreal on April 6 and 7 to attend the annual « Cristal Ball » conference, which focuses on recent trends in information technologies. On the occasion of their visit, Mssrs. Donnelly and Pogge had the opportunity to meet with Daniel Blanche, the new CEO of the Centre de recherche informatique de Montreal (CRIM) as well as Alain Fecteau of Technopole Defence and Security, Mikaël Doucet from Bombardier Transportation as well as other CEOs and senior managers of information technology and security firms based in Quebec.
In August 2009, the Center of Innovation and Excellence in Homeland Security (COIE), CRIM and Technopole Defence Security signed a collaboration agreement that provides the framework for the sharing of information and for increased collaboration between partners in Long Island and Quebec.
Prior to this major conference in Montreal, John Parisella, Quebec’s Delegate General in New York, and Richard Dupont, Quebec’s Director of Economic Affairs in New York, had visited the Morrelly Homeland Security Center at Bethpage, NY this past March and met William Wahlig, Executive Director of LIFT, as well as Mssrs. Donnelly and Pogge and representatives of firms who are active in the field of information technology applied to security.
A return mission from Québec to Long Island is planned on May 18-19th to discuss specific collaborations with the Morelli Homeland Security Center in Bethpage.
