From May 1 to June 13, under the theme Catastrophe? Quelle catastrophe!, the Quebec City art bienniale will present the work of fifty artists from Québec and elsewhere.
The artists selected by curator Sylvie Fortin, editor-in-chief of the magazine Art Papers, will give their own interpretations of catastrophe, on a planetary or personal scale.
Inspired and underpinned by the work of internationally renowned artists, the Manif d’art 5 will be, more than ever, an artistic window onto the world. The program, rich in recent or yet unseen work, will unsettle every category of art lover. Novice viewers will revel in the accessibility of a theme that transcends borders, while visitors with more experience will be thrilled to witness work created specifically for the Manif d’art 5.
An internationally important event, the Québec City biennial will also showcase the work of Québec artists,
allowing its broad-based audience to fully experience an exciting cultural locus.
The works of the artists of the Manif d’art 5 will be presented in a main venue located at Place Québec, 880
avenue Honoré-Mercier, as well as many collabotating art venues:
Avatar, Engramme, Folie/Culture, Université Laval Galerie des arts visuels, La Bande Vidéo,
LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE, Le Lieu, L'OEil de Poisson, MATERIA, Musée de la civilisation de Québec, Regart and VU.
