From 4 February to 25 April, 2010, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec will present Golden Age of Couture: Paris and London, 1947-1957.
The Québec public will have an opportunity to discover more than 250 original creations by Dior and contemporaries, particularly day wear, cocktail dresses and evening dresses worn by international high society of the time and the British Royal Family. Documentary films, excerpts from Hollywood feature films, sound documents and archives of all kinds are included in the exhibition.
The presentation of the exhibition in Québec City is the result of an agreement concluded at the Québec Government Office in London in April 2009 between the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A). It is the first exhibition staged in collaboration with the V&A since the 1970s.
Essentially drawn from the collection of the V&A in London, the exhibition was first presented there, then in a number of museums throughout the world, including the Bendigo Art Gallery (Australia) and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum (China).
