Québec traditional music and other performing arts will be well represented at this year's conference of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP), the most important performing arts event in the U.S.
Presenters coming from all over the world will be offered a multitude of shows and showcases at the annual conference that will take place in New York from January 8 to 12, 2010. Among this abundance of offerings, about a dozen Québec companies will perform showcases through their respective agents or by CINARS and the Folquébec association.
Traditional music: De Temps Antan, Norouet, Le Vent du Nord, Genticorum and Les Batinses.
Dance : Coleman Lemieux & Cie, Destins Croisés (urban dances)
Music: Kleztory (Gipsy music), Marie-Josée Simard et Louise-Andrée Baril (vibraphone), La Tourelle Orkestra
Mime: Michel Lauzière
Eighteen agents from Québec will represent their artists in booths either under the banner of CINARS/Québec on Stage, the Canada Council for the Arts, or individual booths. Les Violons du Roy, I Musici de Montréal and others will be represented by U.S. agents.
Invitation to QUÉBEC ON STAGE showcase
Access to APAP activities is restricted to participants, however, the public is cordially invited to attend the QUÉBEC ON STAGE showcase to take place saturday, January 9 at 7:30 pm at John Jay College (899 10th Avenyue, between 58th and 59th Street.
The showcase will feature Arsenal à Musique, Destins Croisés and the duo formed by Marie-Josée Simard and Louise-Andrée Baril.
