Two beloved classics of the holiday season, Handel's Messiah and Bach's Christmas Oratorio will be given new, fresh life by Québec-City ensemble Les Violons du Roy and La Chapelle de Québec at Carnegie Hall on December 11 and 12.
Les Violons du Roy, a chamber orchestra of fifteen musicians brought together in 1984 by artistic director Bernard Labadie, plays modern instruments, but in the lively and festive style of the Baroque.
The result, according to the New York Times, is “powerful” and “invigorating.”
