On April 9, Delegate General André Boisclair visited SUNY Plattsburgh for the inaugural address of the Distinguished Fulbright Chair in Québec Studies delivered by Dr. Stephane Paquin, professor/Canada research chair in the Department of International and Comparative Economy at ENAP in Québec City.

Dr. Stephane Paquin delivered the inaugural address of the Distinguished Fulbright Chair in Québec Studies.

Dr. Paquin presented a lecture on Québec’s international relations and engagement with the U.S. (read the article in the Press Republican: "Quebec active in international relations")

In attendance were Dr. Christopher Kirkey, director of the Institute on Québec Studies and Center for the Study of Canada; Dr. John Ettling, President of the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh; Andrew Parker, U.S. Consul General to Montréal; and Dr. Michael Hawes, CEO, Fulbright Canada.

Sponsored by the Institute on Québec Studies at SUNY Plattsburgh, in partnership with the Government of Québec and Fulbright Canada, the Distinguished Fulbright Chair in Québec studies allows a number of scholars from Québec, starting this year and for a five-year period, to share their knowledge and expertise with their peers, with students and with the community in Plattsburgh and throughout New York State and other regions of the U.S.

The Chair also provides a chosen opportunity for Québec’s best scholars to develop new academic collaborations within America’s largest network of public universities, the State University of New York.
