On July 22, Québec’s Delegate General to New York Dominique Poirier was the guest of honor at the second annual “Our neighbors to the North: An Evening of Québec” organized by the International Center of the Capital Region (ICCR) in Albany.
What better way to celebrate the close bonds of friendship between Québec and New York than with a networking soiree at the Hudson River waterfront home of ICCR board member Richard Powell.
During her remarks, Ms. Poirier thanked the ICCR and the hosts for their welcome and commitment to the Québec-New York relationship. She spoke of the strong Québec presence in the region – companies like Bombardier, Novabus and Cascades - and gave an overview of the government’s priorities and actions in New York State, Québec’s number one trading partner.
The event brought together more than 80 guests who had the opportunity to sample mouthwatering products of Québec such as cheese, chocolate and beer, and test their knowledge of Québec with a multiple choice quiz.
Attendees included Senator Neil D. Breslin, Assemblywoman Patricia Fahy and Michael Tucker from the Center for Economic Growth.
ICCR is a non-profit organization that helps the Capital Region engage with the world and promote international understanding.
