The Minister of International Relations, La Francophonie and External Trade, Jean-François Lisée, met with the Lieutenant Governor of the State of New York, Robert Duffy, during his official visit to Montréal in December. Lt Governor Duffy’s visit represented a continuation in the working relationship between the State of New York and Québec.

Also in attendance during the series of high-level meetings were Québec's Delegate General to New York Dominique Poirier, representatives from various Québec government ministries and several representatives from Québec businesses and research centers active in New York State.
Panels dealing with key sectors of joint interest enabled discussions among representatives from New York and stakeholders from Québec. The first focused on research and innovation, and more specifically on nanotechnology.
The two parties examined issues linked to research and the marketing of innovations. The development of joint R&D projects was also explored.
The second panel, chaired by the Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier for Transport Electrification, Daniel Breton, focused on issues pertaining to electrifying transportation.
Potential partnerships between Québec and New York State were likewise discussed. Both parties agreed to continue working on these topics over the winter.
Transportation Electrification Strategy 2013-2017
