Madeleine Thien, is a writer and is perhaps best known for her epic novel Do Not Say We Have Nothing (2016), which spans the length of China’s modern history from Mao’s revolution in 1949 to the Cultural Revolution in the late 1960s to Tiananmen Square in 1989. The novel won the 2016 Governor General’s Award and the Scotiabank Giller Prize. She lives in Montréal. Her books are translated into 25 languages.
