Premier Jean Charest signed a scientific and technological cooperation agreement with the People’s Republic of China, represented by Cao Jianlin, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, on October 27, 2011.
The agreement provides for $1.2 million in financial support from each signatory over a three-year period. The amounts invested by the governments of Québec and China will go toward ambitious research projects, particularly in the fields of information and communications technology and life sciences. The project eligibility criteria include industry involvement and solid potential for commercialization, ensuring tangible results in the medium term.
