Taking advantage of an official trip to Spain, Pierre Arcand, Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, will underline the tenth anniversary of the opening of the Québec government office in Barcelona.
The Minister will be in Spain from September 6 to 12. His visit will begin in Catalonia, where he will attend the FiraTàrrega street theatre festival, which draws distributors from around the world. Thanks to support from the Government of Québec, this year’s edition of the festival will highlight Québec circus arts, with performances of recent creations by three Québec companies. In Barcelona, the Minister will meet with Catalonian President José Montilla. He will also attend a reception held to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Québec government office in Barcelona and take part in Catalonia’s national holiday celebrations. Following the Catalonian leg of his trip, Minister Arcand will visit Madrid, where he will meet with high-level political figures and tour the local plant of Québec-based aerospace company CAE.
The Québec government office in Barcelona was officially opened in 1999. The tenth-anniversary celebrations will be a chance to take stock of a decade of fruitful relations between Québec and Catalonia in the fields of the economy, culture, language, transportation and education.
