Two CL-415 water bombers and their Québec crews are currently in California to lend a hand to their Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) colleagues for the next three months. This is the peak brush fire season in this region of California.
The British School at Rome, which is dedicated to architectural excellence, has partnered with the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) to establish a program that will enable a Québec architect to undertake a three-month research and creation residency in the Italian capital each year. The registration deadline is September 10, 2012.

The France-Québec and Québec-France associations held their 18th joint congress from July 12 to 14 in Montréal. The theme of the congress, which attracted over 300 participants, was “Our Network: Building a New Future.” The Québec Minister of Tourism, Pascal Bérubé attended the event.
Amongst the twelve important international festivals held in Edinburgh annually, six take place in August: the Edinburgh International Festival, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Book Festival, the Art Festival, the Mela Festival and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. It is for four out of these six festivals that Edinburgh will welcome a large array of Québec artists this year, at least 11, representing disciplines as wide ranging as theatre, contemporary figure-skating, music, literature, puppetry and visual arts.
At the conclusion of the economic mission that he headed from 13 to 17 July in the United Kingdom, Québec Economy, Innovation and Exports Minister Jacques Daoust, presented a positive assessment of Québec’s presence at the 49th Farnborough International Airshow, which ended on Sunday 20 July, 2014.
At the close of the 62nd Farnborough International Airshow, Sam Hamad, Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, gave a positive assessment of Québec’s participation, which included some twenty businesses and organizations, in the trade mission he headed from July 8 to 12.
From 14 to 20 July, the United-Kingdom is home to the 64th Farnborough International Airshow (FIA). Mr Jacques Daoust, Minister for the Economy, Innovation and Exports, is leading a business delegation comprised of industrialists and organisations from Québec’s aerospace industry. His presence at the fair’s Québec pavilion, “Redefining the horizon”, alongside flagships of Québec’s aerospace industry such as Bombardier, Pratt & Whitney Canada, CAE as well as equipment manufacturers and suppliers, affords a key opportunity to underline Québec’s world prominence as a hub for the aerospace industry and to promote this flourishing sector of its economy.
This month, soldiers of the Quebec-based Royal 22e Régiment will be forming the Queen’s Guard at Buckingham Palace, St. James’ Palace and the Tower of London on 14, 16 and 18 in honour of the regiment’s centenary and all those served it at home and abroad in two world wars and subsequent international actions.

On 22 June for the twelfth year running, in collaboration with the National Bank of Canada, Fasken-Martineau and TV5Monde, the Québec Government Office in London marked Québec’s National Day with an event held in the grounds of the Gherkin, an ecological skyscraper situated in the business district of the City of London. Close to 350 guests attended the celebrations.
The 2012 edition of the Conference of Montreal, held from June 11 to 14, drew an estimated 3,000 participants from around the world, who converged on Québec’s largest city to hear renowned guest speakers explore topical issues related to globalization and the economy. Held under the theme “A Global Economy in Transition: New Strategies, New Partnerships,” this year’s Conference highlighted the broad transformations under way in countries and regions around the world and the importance of understanding the impact of these changes on the global economy. The Ministère des Relations internationales (MRI) was responsible for interdepartmental coordination of this major event.
