Over the course of the past week, the Québec Government Office in London has participated in two events that highlighted the importance of digital technologies to the future of government and diplomacy.
On the 7th September, the Minister of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusiveness, Kathleen Weil, and the Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie, Christine St-Pierre, unveiled the exceptional measures that Québec will be putting in place to welcome more refugees, in particular Syrian refugees, and to support the efforts of Québec international cooperation organizations that are working on the ground.
Québec expertise was recently honoured at the annual American Cheese Society (ACS) competition in Raleigh, North Carolina, with Québec artisan and specialty cheese producers winning 36 prizes, including seven first places.

The Québec Government Office in London is delighted to unveil its latest cultural brochure for the months May-August 2015, a bumper edition due to a packed summer season of events involving Québec artists/companies throughout the UK, Ireland and the Nordic countries.
On 20 April, ten students from Montreal’s École de Technologie supérieure (ÉTS), along with one of their lecturers and a representative from the ÉTS Recruitment Office (Bureau du recrutement étudiant et de la promotion des programmes or BREPP), came to the Québec Government Office in London (Délégation générale du Québec à Londres or DGQL).
A new global agreement to address climate change is taking shape, with the United States joining the European Union in formally submitting its plan to cut greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The US has sent a strong signal by being one of the first to offer this commitment to concrete climate action. In the days ahead, many other countries, including China and India, are expected to add their plans to the mix.
I can scarcely believe that spring has sprung and Eastertide or the Bank Holiday Weekend is almost upon us. In my last message I mentioned my participating in two events which took place in Québec last February: first, the International Symposium on Northern Development which marked the building of a bridge for Arctic knowledge sharing between Northern American territories such as Québec & the European Arctic and second, the CÉRIUM International Conference on the Future of Diplomacy at which I presented the case of Québec diplomacy present and future against a fast-changing global backdrop.
