As part of the Canada focus of this year’s Festival America due to take place in London this September, Québec writer Andrée Michaud will be in conversation with Leslie Hurtig, along with Cherie Dimaline and Nancy Lee, on a panel entitled ‘Canadian Women from West to East’.
The next provincial election will be held in Québec on the 1st of October 2018. If you will be outside of Québec when voting takes place, you may be able to vote by mail. On the 28th March, the Tabernacle Theatre in London will host the fifth edition of Le Match International d’Improvisation. Returning to London after the riotous success of previous editions, this year’s match will unite professional actors and comedians from Québec, Canada and France for a night of fantastic entertainment. Originally conceived in Québec, this unique theatrical genre combines improvisational theatre with ice hockey, with performers mixing humour and ingenuity to win the favour of the public through a series of hilarious sketches.

The team at the Québec Government Office in London (DGQL) have been extremely busy recently, with many activities taking place on our territory. At the end of January, we welcomed two successful ministerial missions, as the Chair of the Conseil du Trésor, Mr. Pierre Arcand, came to London on mission, and the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Mr. Pierre Moreau, visited Norway on mission. Two other ministers came on working trips to the UK in February.
The Cultural Department of the Québec Government Office in London is happy to announce the publication of the latest edition of the Québec culture brochure for the UK, Ireland and the Nordic countries!
On the 22nd and 23rd of January 2018, Minister Pierre Arcand, whose responsibilities cover Government Administration and Ongoing Program Review, and who is Chair of the Conseil du trésor, led a mission to London. While in the UK’s capital, Minister Arcand met with several experts in governmental infrastructure projects. Accompanied by Mr. Yves Ouellet, président-directeur général de la Société québécoise des infrastructures, the Minister had a meeting with the Chief Executive of the Planning Inspectorate, the body responsible for ensuring the regulations are respected when major infrastructure projects are planned. The Minister also met with Mr. Matthew Vickerstaff, Vice CEO of the Infrastructure and Projects Authority, a British centre of expertise on infrastructure projects and their follow through.
At a reception held on January 22 2018 at the Québec Government Office in London, Québec firm Element AI announced that they are to expand into Europe with the opening of a new office in London. The reception and announcement came as part of a collaborative Artificial Intelligence (AI) mission. This mission involved companies and researchers from Québec, Canada as a whole and the UK, and was held between 22nd-25th of January 2018 in London, Oxford and Cambridge.
It is with great pleasure that I write to you today for the first time in my capacity as Agent-General here at the Québec Government Office in London. It is an honour and a privilege to have been chosen to take on this exciting mandate in the UK, Republic of Ireland and the Nordic countries. I come into my role following a career in the private sector as a partner and manager of a global law firm headquartered in London.
