Last Monday 20 October, the Québec City Convention Centre won Silver in the Best Print Advertising Campaign category of the Meeting Industry’s Marketing Awards (MIMA), which took place at a central London venue.
The award was received by Mr. P.-Michel Bouchard, Québec City Convention Centre CEO and board President, at the 13th presentation Gala organised by Meetings & Incentive Travel magazine, at the Lancaster London and attended by 450 industry guests. For each of the 14 award categories, entrants are assessed by an independent judging panel, made up of industry experts. The Québec City Convention Centre was also shortlisted in the MIMA Best Direct Mail Campaign category and this Best Print Advertising Campaign award, adds to the company’s growing list of other impressive international recognitions, such as having been crowned “Best in the World” by the International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC), in 2006.
Since its inauguration on 26 August 1996, the Convention Centre has hosted over 2,000 events and generates annually around $20 million in economic activity for the region. Each year, over 200 000 international visitors come to the centre, where major national and international conventions are held. In addition, a recent expansion project, completed in March 2014, is helping the Québec City Convention Centre to continue to position itself as a leading premiere destination for international events.
MIMA was launched in 2002 to raise the standards of marketing in the meetings and events industry by recognising the industry’s leaders. Entry for MIMA 2015 will open in January 2015.
