Fred Woods in concert at The Nest - Tiniest Music FestivalBrussels Wednesday, January 10, 2018
Fred Woods is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Montreal. In 2013 he released his first album, Documenta, mixed by Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (Jerusalem In My Heart) at Montreal’s almighty Hotel 2 Tango. With improvisation as his driving force, Fred continues to forge his musical identity and has completed his second album, a self-produced folk-rock-experimental offering. The track “Nightingale” introduces us to this new work, entitled The Kindness. Drawing inspiration from jazz, this first track unfolds with a stormy, propulsive and repetitive sound. Fred’s vocals interact with Oliviers Fairfield’s drums (Timber Timbre, Last Ex) locked in a tense and tender duel, ready to crack at any moment.
Fred delivers intense and engaging live performances, where the repetitive guitar riffs and atmospheric loops cohabit with sequenced synthesizers, pushing his poignant vocals in the foreground. He already shared the stage with Andy Shauf, Jesse Mac Cormack, Emilie & Ogden, Sophie Jamieson and performed at Festival OFF in Quebec City, Megaphono in Ottawa, Lauter Festival in Zurich, as well as Aurores Montréal and MaMA Festival in Paris.
To support his new material, Fred is going to tour Europe extensively in the fall of 2017 and winter of 2018, mostly solo.
