Founded in 2002, traditional Québec musical group, Le Vent du Nord, performs catchy songs, many with origins in traditional Québec folk repertoire, in promotion of progressive Québec folk music. They are recognized around the world for their enticing interpretation, composition, and arrangement. The quartet has performed well over 1,400 concerts, racking up several prestigious awards, including a Grand Prix du Disque Charles Cros, two Junos (Canada’s Grammys), a Canadian Folk Music Award, and “Artist of the Year” at the North American Folk Alliance Annual Gala.
In 2016, Le Vent du Nord will be on tour as part of Arts Midwest World Fest Residency. The goal of this program is to provide inspiring arts experiences and teach diversity and acceptance in communities that do not normally have access to this type of program. Over a two year period, Le Vent du Nord, and other musical ensembles, will present week-long residencies in selected communities throughout the Midwest.
