A delegation of 38 Quebec companies participated in the Private Label Manufacturers Association Show (PLMA 2013), which was held in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont from Nov. 17-19.
This year’s Quebec exhibitors included 33 food and beverage companies, as well as 5 companies from other industries.
PLMA is an internationally renowned trade show, since it is the largest of its kind for the private label sector, both for foodservice and retail.
More than 1,000 exhibitors from 35 different countries participated in this year’s edition.
The Quebec Government Office in Chicago contributed to several aspects of the trade mission, including the organization of B2B meetings with twenty American buyers.
In cooperation with Quebec’s Ministère des Relations Internationales, de la Francophonie et du Commerce Extérieur, as well as the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation, the Quebec Government Office in Chicago developed an innovative online company directory offering an interactive tool for scheduling meetings: www.quebecprivatelabel.com
With help from other Quebec Government Offices in the U.S. and abroad, this resource was shared with over 300 buyers in the Midwest, and over 500 across the world.
The private label market grew by 2.9% in 2012, with record sales of more than $108 billion.
Each year, the PLMA organizes three trade shows around the world, each in a different city: Chicago in November, Amsterdam in May and Shanghai in December.
