This year, 35 Québec food and beverage companies will be exhibiting at the Private Label Manufacturers Association Trade Show (PLMA) in Chicago from Nov. 17th through 19th 2013. This is one of the most important events in the private label or store brand industry in North America and is held each November in Chicago.
Private label products are exclusive to your favorite grocery store or restaurant. Some examples of store brands are 365 Everyday Value at Whole Foods, Archer Farms at Target, Essential Everyday at Jewel and almost everything at Trader Joe’s and Aldi. Ever see the words “Product of Canada” on your favorite store brand label? If so, there’s a good possibility that those items come from Québec!
Québec food and beverage companies are important suppliers to the private label industry; their products can be found on grocery shelves throughout the Midwest (and beyond). Maple syrup is the best example, since 80% of the world’s supply comes from Québec. The province is also the biggest Canadian producer of pork products, specialty cheeses and cranberries. Québec’s private label manufacturers offer a variety of other products as well, from pasta sauces to chocolates.
