More than 20 Québec companies participated in the 86th edition of the Water Environment Federation’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) in Chicago from Oct. 5th-9th. The event is the most important trade show in North America in the water and wastewater treatment industry.
The Québec Government Office in Chicago and Export Québec, along with financial support from Investissement Québec and Québec companies Orbinox and Evolu-tech, organized several activities with the aim of helping Québec companies showcase their expertise and penetrate the American market.
Through these activities, 12 Québec companies had the opportunity to meet and build relationships with representatives from nine different municipal water treatment facilities in the Midwest (Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Nebraska). Eric Marquis, the Québec Government Representative to the Midwest, presented the Québec companies and highlighted the province’s expertise in water technology. Some interesting opportunities presented themselves for strategic partnerships in the industry between Québec and the Midwest.
Participating Québec companies also took part in business meetings at McCormick Place, where the trade show was held.
The evening ended with a business dinner during which six Québec companies presented their relationships with important American partners.
Next year, WEFTEC will take place in New Orleans. The event will return to Chicago in 2015.
