The Premier of Québec, Pauline Marois, will be in New England on July 17 and 18 where she will meet with the governors of four states—Maggie Hassan (New Hampshire), Deval Patrick (Massachusetts), Lincoln Chafee (Rhode Island) and Dannel Malloy (Connecticut)—to discuss the topics on the agenda of the next Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers (NEG-ECP), which will be held in La Malbaie on September 8 and 9, 2013.
“The Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers is a unique opportunity for all the partners to discuss topics of shared interest, notably energy, the environment and transportation. It is also, for Québec, a forum where it can assert itself as a major player. These meetings are thus an important stepping stone in the preparation for the Conference this coming September,” said the Premier.
Since its creation in 1973, NEG-ECP has been Québec’s principal multilateral instrument for developing its relations with the New England states. Québec has been an active participant in NEG-ECP since the very beginning, but it is only every 11 years that it can host the conference.
