The American Cheese Society (ACS) will celebrate its 30th anniversary this summer in Madison, Wisconsin, in the heart of America’s dairy state. In 1983, the group was formed with the goal of fostering excellence in the North American cheese industry. The ACS continues this mission today through educational programs, networking opportunities and promotional tools that it offers to its members, who are made up mostly of cheesemakers but also including retailers, brokers, restaurateurs and enthusiasts.
This event provides an opportunity for Québec to shine as a leader in the American cheese industry. Last year, several Québec cheesemakers won prizes, including Agropur Fine Cheese, La Fromagerie Alexis de Portneuf, Fromagerie Le Détour, Fromages CDA, La Fromagerie 1860 DuVillage Inc., La Moutonnière Inc., Fromagerie Bergeron, Fromagerie du Presbytère, Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P., Fromagerie La Station and Fromagerie Nouvelle France, all won awards during the 2012 Competition.
