Québec’s initiatives to combat climate change were at the core of a mission to Washington, DC, carried out from May 20 to 23 by Yves-François Blanchet, Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment, Wildlife and Parks.
Meetings with people such as Nancy Sutley, President Obama’s leading environmental advisor, and Ernest Moniz, the new Secretary of Energy, were a chance for Minister Blanchet to describe Québec’s climate change policies and expertise. This was the first time that a Québec environment minister was received at the White House.

The prestigious Climate Leadership Gala, held by the Earth Day Network, and the influential Resources for the Future think tank were opportunities for the Minister to address numerous international decision-makers, including Sir Richard Branson (Virgin) and Elon Musk (Tesla, Space X), with a view to highlighting Québec’s efforts and ambitious goals in the following areas:
