For the third consecutive year, the Québec Government Office in Chicago (DQC) sponsored the opening night reception of the Midwest Arts Conference, which took place at the Grand Rapids Public Museum on September 12, 2012. The reception, which put the spotlight on artists from Québec, was attended by close to 600 performing arts presenters, agents and artists from across the United States and beyond.
This year’s conference was attended by 11 agents who collectively represent 36 performing arts companies from Québec. The artists represented include La Bottine Souriante, De Temps Antan, Théâtre Tout à Trac, Cirque Alphonse and Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal. Now in its 26th year, the Midwest Arts Conference provides a unique opportunity for the DQC to showcase Québec’s diverse performing artists along with the Office’s cultural services, which include sending presenters to attend festivals in Québec and supporting venues that include Québec companies in their programming.
