On Thursday, March 12, about forty Université de Montréal alumni met for the first time at the home of Québec Delegate General in Brussels, Christos Sirros, in response to an invitation from the university’s Rector, Luc Vinet.
Rector Vinet reminded those attending of some of their alma mater’s unique characteristics. It is Québec’s leading teaching and research centre with 300,000 graduates who excel in every sphere of human activity. The “U de M,” as it is commonly called, ranks among North America’s top 50 universities and the world’s 200 best.
The focus of the event was on getting to know one another, socializing and organizing an alumni association. This meeting undoubtedly marks the first of many since four graduates, Béatrice Goffard, Daphné Stadnik, Philippe Giguère and Pierre Collin, readily volunteered to lay the groundwork for the Université de Montréal’s future alumni association in Belgium.
