Young Tradition Weekend ‘Young Folks Doing Old Stuff’Burlington, VT Friday, May 5, 2017 to Saturday, May 6, 2017
Presented by Young Tradition Vermont, and sponsored by the Quebec Government Office in Boston, the Vermont Folklife Center, Castleton University and others, the 2nd ‘Young Folks Doing Old Stuff’ Conference is scheduled for Friday May 5, 2017 at the Bishop Booth Conference Center in Burlington, Vermont during the Young Tradition Weekend.
The conference will again feature presentations and workshops by educators and scholars from Québec and throughout New England, focusing on using traditional music and dance in educational settings. Sessions will be suitable for those working with children across the age range, with some sessions focusing on children (through age 12) and youth (teens). As keynote speaker, Lisa Ornstein will begin the conference and set the tone for the rest of the day, and special guests like Tony Seeger and workshop leaders like Andy Cohen will provide hands-on opportunities to see, hear about and try out ways to incorporate traditional music and/or dance in public, private, home school and after school settings.
