The State of Georgia now requires that foreign visitors driving in Georgia with licenses in languages other than English carry an international driver's license. This regulation could impact Quebecers who visit Georgia or drive through it on their way to Florida.
The Québec Délégation in Atlanta, together with its partners in the region, are organizing meetings with senior government officials in Georgia in order to present Quebec's perpective on this issue and identify solutions that would be agreeable to all parties.
Until an accommodation is found, the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) recommends that Québec automobilists who are planning to drive in Georgia obtain an international driver's license before leaving home.
